Morning Fun

I had the incredible pleasure of collecting a urine sample this morning. It is hard enough to gather one of those for yourself, even harder to collect one from your dog. The one thing I had working to my advantage is Bodhi's single minded desire to pee on our neighbors bushes.

I figured if I took him to the front yard on a leash, I could literally "catch it" in the act. It was a perfect plan....I thought. I failed to account for the fact that he likes to save plenty of pee to mark other spots too. I did a great job on the first catch, but it was a miserably small amount. SO - picture me in a blue rubber glove with collection container walking up an down my block trying to encourage Bodhi to mark up the neighborhood.

He was really being fairly cooperative, but his "flow rate" was highly inconsistent and he lifted a different leg each time with very little advance warning. So, I looked like a Circ De Soleil performer trying to get between him and the tree, the bush, the pile of leaves.... He kicked my hand and we lost a good share of the specimen, so more walking and encouragement ensued.

25 minutes later, container and pee covered glove in hand, we "got 'er done" so to speak. Next time (and lets hope that next time is far in the future), it is definately daddy's turn!

  1. Oh my, that is just too funny. Well, I'm sure not funny for you, but it sounds funny. Hopefully there won't be a next time. :)
