It is so hard to believe my baby girl is SIX. The other day she put her own hair in pig tails, and I have to admit, it made me teary. I love her strong independence, her wild spirit, and her willingness to try everything - and at the same time these same qualities cause me to feel pierced in the heart so often. Feeling that she does not need so much mothering, so much of me. Loving someone so much while holding them so loosely is the hardest thing I have ever, and probably will ever, do. As mom's we want to cling tightly, hoover, protect, keep our kids from hurting themselves or making mistakes. It takes so much strength to stand back and let them try out their wings. I love you sweet girl and I am excited to see what this year brings you!
